One face of a disk that can be rotated around a vertical axis is covered by a layer of soot.  On the disk a small bullet is placed in a special container near to the axis that can be opened during rotation. The bullet will fly off and on the sooted surface will draw its trajectory. In case of rotation in the opposite direction the trajectory will be oriented in the opposite direction too.

Függőleges tengely körül forgatható korong egyik fele kormozott. A korongon a forgástengelyhez közel kialakított tartályba egy golyót helyezünk, amit forgás közben a külső lemez felemelésével kiengedünk. A golyó lerepül a korongról és közben a kormozott felületen megrajzolja pályáját. Ellenkező forgásirányban megismételt kísérletnél a golyó által felrajzolt pálya is ellenkező irányba fog elhajlani.
