A két hengeres test: egy erős permanens mágnes és egy nagy vezetőképességű réztömb. A mágneses indukciófluxus hirtelen változása miatti örvényáramok az őket keltő hatást gátolni igyekeznek, azaz lassítják a mágnes esését, sőt akár dőlését is. Az említett hatás a két test relatív mozgását igyekszik gátolni. Ha például gyorsan távolítjuk őket, akkor vonzóerő lép fel. Ezt kihasználva akár fel is emelhető a mágnes.

There are two cylindrical bodies, a strong permanent magnet and a copper block of high conductivity. Due to the sudden change of magnetic flux the eddy currents produced in a body tend to hinder their generation so that they try to slow down the motion of the magnet. This effect will also hinder the relative motion of the two bodies. If they move away then attractive force is produced. By making use of this effect the magnet can even be lifted. By decreasing the temperature the conductivity of the metals is increasing. At the temperature of liquid nitrogen the eddy currents are much stronger than those at room temperature. So that phenomena connected with eddy currents will manifest themselves more pronouncedly.

Magnetic induction IX.

There are two cylindrical bodies, a strong permanent magnet and a copper block of high conductivity. Due to the sudden change of magnetic flux, the eddy currents produced in a body tend to hinder their generation so that they try to slow down the motion of the magnet. This effect will also hinder the relative motion of the two bodies. If they move away, then attractive force is produced. By making use of this effect, the magnet can even be lifted. By decreasing the temperature, the conductivity of the metals is increasing. At the temperature of liquid nitrogen, the eddy currents are much stronger than those at room temperature. Phenomena connected with eddy currents will then manifest themselves more pronouncedly.
